Recently the Daily Momtivity Moms got to have a night off. An entire day AND night off. We took full advantage and hit the road for a fun getaway. We had such a good time! So much fun, in fact, that we are already talking about our next getaway! We compiled a short list of reasons why YOU should plan a Mom’s Night Away!
*Silence is golden. You won’t hear kids screaming “Mommy!” or asking you 1,0oo questions about anything and everything. YOU CAN HEAR YOUR OWN THOUGHTS! Can you imagine??
*A night away means you have time to shower in peace. You can actually wash your hair AND shave your legs. Unheard of!
*Two words: SLEEP IN. When was the last time you got to sleep in? On a Mommy night away you can SLEEP until you wake up naturally and then take your time rolling out of bed. It’s glorious!
*You can enjoy a meal! No need to take turns speed-eating while the other parent handles the kids. You can go out to eat, have a drink and relax for as long as you like.
*You can spend time with your BFF, and have real conversation (instead of quick chat on Facebook Messenger or talking over the noise at McDonald’s).
*In the Summer, you can hang by the pool reading and relaxing without being on kid duty. You know how very different it is to go swimming with kids versus by yourself… So.Very.Different.
*For the breastfeeding Mommy, it means the freedom to kick back and have more than one adult beverage (er…more than three?) while away from the baby (#pumpanddump).
*********************************************************************
When 2 Moms schedule a night away, it’s ridiculous how much stuff is required, and the major planning that goes into it. TOTALLY WORTH IT, of course! In our case, packing for this one night away meant preparing Daddy, the refrigerator and the entire household for our absence.
*Pack the entire house up for the baby to spend a night at Grammy’s house.
*Purchase new batteries for the breast pump so that the nursing Mommy can pump on the road.
*Review the schedule with Daddy at least 6 times before leaving: Soccer practice at 3:00, pick up son at babysitter’s house at 4:00, etc.
And much more. Have you ever taken a Mom’s Road Trip with a friend? You deserve it, so schedule it! You’ll be amazed how good it feels to abandon all kid-responsibility for 24-48 hours, and let Daddy or the Grandparents take over. Find a fun hotel or an easy day trip destination and just play!

P.S. One great memory that I’ll have from our Daily Momtivity Moms getaway is using my breast pump in the back seat of Shannon’s minivan while she was driving. Then pulling over so that I could dump it on the side of the road. (Dumping breast milk always feels SO wrong, doesn’t it? It’s like gold!) Another good memory is purchasing Sonic slushies, spiking them and then lounging by the pool. Now THAT’S something you can’t do with kids around! – Nicole
Oh how I would love to go on a road trip! I dream of that day!! Looks so fun! I need to make this happen ASAP! Thanks for joining our new party:) It was fun to have you! #momsmeetup
You do need to make it happen! We didn’t go very far away either, just about an hour. It was perfect!
