I’m back with a new edition of my Advantages posts. I’ve written about Advantages of Being a Working Mom, Advantages of Being a Stay at Home Mom, and even Advantages of Sending Your Kids to Day Care. Now, I’m in a whole new stage in my working life. For the first time ever in 18 years- I’m fully working from home. I decided it was time to write about all the positives. Here are all of the Advantage of Being a Work From Home Mom.
So like I said above I’m in a new stage in my working life. For the first time ever, I am fully working from home. I am doing a few contract teaching jobs but they are very part-time and not on a regular basis. I have had to really dig deep and find a new normal for getting my work done. It is NOT easy! My 4-year-old does go to school but only a few hours a week and he is in regular speech classes I have to shuttle him to during the school week. That being said- I am extremely busy. I’m not just sitting around! Most nights I’m not in bed before midnight!! But, there are some definite advantages to being able to work from home. I can say, I LOVE IT. It’s not easy, but I do love it.
Clothes Don’t Matter
This is a huge advantage. Yes, I do wear clothes but I don’t have to be up and dressed as I’m working from home. My 4-year-old could care less. Cute t-shirts are my new best friends. I especially loved printed designs similar to these.I think I bought 3 new Texas t-shirts too because I love me some Texas t-shirts!!
Mornings Are Less Stressful
When you are a Mom and you work out of the home the mornings are about the most stressful thing on Earth. Mornings are still crazy but they are so much less stressful now that I don’t have to be up and dressed looking decent too. I can get up right before my kids, get lunches and breakfast going, get them out the door, and get busy working. Yes, it’s still totally chaotic but it’s so much better.
I Can Do More At Home
I hate admitting this (especially if my husband does ever read this!!) but I can do more at home since I am home. I can make a phone call to the plumber if needed. I can call and cancel our lawn service. I can finish that load of laundry that was sitting there since Saturday (well maybe). I can think about dinner plans. I do have tons of work to do and I have to prioritize but I can do some work around the house now too.
Saving Money on Gas/No Commuting
Okay, so I’m still in the car a lot shuttling my kids to and from places but I’m not commuting to work anymore. That is definitely saving money on gas. I’m also not having to pack my lunch or eat out so that is a save there too. I can easily find food at home. It’s very tempting to stop at Chick-fil-A for breakfast on the way home from preschool drop off but I go home and get to work!!
More Time For Them
So I’m not sure just how long my little stint at staying at home and blogging here and blogging here will last, but I’m trying. I’m hustling. You can’t blame me for trying. My kids are the most important thing to me in my life and I wouldn’t trade this time with them for anything in the world! Right now I have more time with them then I have ever had. I will never regret or get this time back.
Here are some organizational products I use or like to help keep me organized!
Have you ever worked from home? What was it like for you? I’d love to hear about your work/Mommy life and how you do it all!
I love being a work at home mom, too. Sometimes I fantasize about having a “real” lunch break. But I really appreciate having time with my kids every day.
