I’m here to hopefully save you some time (and possibly money) with some beach tips for Moms. I’ve personally used these tips and tricks and loved being able to save money and have some extra time with my family. They also can save you sanity because sand + kids = a giant mess of your car or house.
Beach Tips for Moms: Before You Go
You’re thinking about booking a beach trip? Congrats!

Beach tip #1: Book a place close to the sand.
Just picture this, dragging your 2+ kids plus all their sand crap plus towels, food/drinks, chairs, umbrellas, and MORE and then having to walk or drive to the sand. It can be a huge nightmare. I highly suggest getting as close to the sand as possible.
In our most recent VBRO booking we found a condo for a family of 4-5 that was literally across the street to the sand. It took 3 minutes to walk door to sand. It was perfect.

Tip #2: Book a place with a kitchen (or at least a microwave and fridge!)
You know kids, they get hungry fast and then they get HANGRY. Sometimes Moms and Dads do too. Save yourself some time and get a place with at least a small kitchenette and or fridge. This is so important! You can have food items chilled or ready to go for when you get back from the beach and everyone is famished.

Tip #3: Meal Plan
I can’t say this enough- MEAL PLAN. (This is all before you go!) Make a sketch of a few easy meals you can make in your kitchen rental that everyone likes. I hate having to shop for or waste my vacation time searching for food. When you have a kitchen you can easily store things ready to go to heat up fast.
Meal planning doesn’t have to be extensive. Think about easy grab and go items for breakfast, plan to have sandwiches or other easy lunch items with you in a cooler (at the beach!), and then have something ready for dinner. Ordering pizza for delivery is an option as well.
I totally recommend making a dinner ahead of time and bringing it with you when you travel. I made spaghetti and meat sauce before we left, froze it overnight and then we took it in our Yeti cooler and had it with pasta the first night. It was so easy and tasty. I was so thankful to have something our first night.
Need some other dinner ideas for the beach? How about:
Frito Pie: You just make the meat and bring chips and cheese. Easy!
Cheese Enchiladas: These would be easy as well. I would get it ready, freeze, and then bring to bake at the beach.
Tip #4 Pack Some Supplies
I have some must-have items that I will always take to the beach like: good beach sunscreen, baby powder (this helps to get sand off hands!) a cheap laundry bag (with holes, for sand toys!) I always bring a few sand toys from home. Don’t wait until you buy them there. Beach places charge so much for simple $1 toys! Also you need a good cooler and ice packs! Bring as much food/snacks as you can so you won’t have to shop and miss beach time. I brought all of our food except milk. I stopped at a quick store and got some milk for the week on our way in. It was so easy. I also brought my youngest a life jacket. He’s a great swimmer but some of those powerful waves would have taken him down!
Beach Tips for Moms: When You Get to the Beach
Tip #5: Make a Go-To Supply Station
I always like to make a go-to area for sunscreen and other personal needs. Assign a table or a small station to keep sunscreen, bandaids, and bug spray to keep in front and everyone will know to go there before heading down.
Tip #6: Try and Keep Sand Outside
Keep water shoes or other shoes you will wear close to the door. You won’t believe how much sand will enter in even if you shower off. Keep as much outside or right by the door if you can.
Tip #7: Freeze some water bottles ( do this as soon as you get there!)
This is my biggest tip because it helps to keep other drinks cold the next day. For drinks I used those small flavor water packets you put in a water bottle. They were so easy!
Tip #8 Plan at Dinner on the Beach
One of my best tips is to plan on having a dinner on the beach too if you can. After 5 the crowds die down (and so does the sun!!) and it’s my favorite time of day at the beach. The kids can swim and you can have a picnic!
Have Fun: Seriously you need to have fun and let go. It can be so stressful traveling with kids but try and enjoy the time. It will go by so fast and you will blink and it will be over. Make sure you read my beach hacks for more amazing beach tips!
