Last weekend my family of 4 had a chance to escape the big city and step out into country life at beautiful Blue Acres Ranch in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. It was exactly what we needed and we are already talking about when we can go back.
Thanks so much to Chickasaw Country and Blue Acres Ranch for hosting our stay. We had such a fabulous time!
As soon as we heard about Blue Acres Ranch we were all in. It’s less than a 2 hour drive from Dallas and it’s perfect for families. The drive was very easy to make and a really cute and friendly town with stores and groceries is located just 10 minutes away, Tishomingo, which I will tell you about later on.
Tishomingo is not far from Sulphur, Oklahoma, which also has many fun things to do as a family as well.
I wish you could’ve heard the voices of my kids when we made the way up the long drive way of the ranch. They could not believe that this was the place we were staying. It was such an unbelievable property! There was so much for the kids to do from fishing (they have 4 ponds!!) plus so many fun water activities ready to go, and hiking with the 160 acres on the ranch.
Then we walked in the beautiful house and saw how amazing it was. It’s a really nice house with 2 good sized bedrooms and 1 very large bathroom. The house can sleep a lot of people because they have a lot of beds and the living room is very large as well to accommodate more. It’s very open and spacious.
I was amazed at how well this was planned out and would be perfect for several families, especially with young kids. They have a toy room, a pack n’ play, high chairs, and more accommodations for kids. They also have an amazing screened in porch full of life jackets and more things to do like ping pong and corn hole. Honestly so much to do! My kids were going crazy!
The kitchen area and living room are all open and so large. There is a large dining table, which would be nice for families as well. I loved how the house was decorated. Everything was so clean and pretty.
Being out in the country has its perks. It’s nice being out in the middle of no where and not seeing neighbors, cars, and traffic. We heard peaceful sounds or nothing at all.
The Nearby Town: Tishomingo
I do like to have a town close by and luckily there was one. Less than 15 minutes drive was an adorable down of Tishomingo. It was such a cute town with great food and friendly people too. They had a great street full of amazing restaurants and shopping (Main Street). We were lucky enough to be able to try some of these eateries and everyone was just as good as the last!
- Gonzalez Mexican Food: wonderful chips and salsa!
- Ole Red (Blake Shelton’s Restaurant and Bar! Sadly, we didn’t see Blake that night. So sad!) A cute gift shop attached.
- LatteDa Cafe (the best potato soup I’ve ever had in my life!!)
- Boomerang Diner: super cute retro decor and yummy food, breakfast served all day!
We also discovered they had a college, which we enjoyed driving by and checking out. They also have a beautiful Chickasaw National Capital just off Main Street. It has such a pretty grounds area and offers free admission.
They also have a grocery store, which we visited several times, and several other places like movie theater and even a winery (Old Silo Winery). It was nice to have a town close by restaurants and stores to be able to pick up necessities.
Blue Acres Ranch
Back at the ranch we had plenty to do. My kids did not want to leave. They literally wanted to stay longer. We had so much fun walking the trails, fishing, and just relaxing. It was so nice that they offer so many accommodations and things for the kids to do.
We enjoyed the beautiful outdoors more than we ever have, stayed outside as long as we could, and did not want the days to end.
We tried to make the most of our experience by staying outside as long as we could. We hiked around the property and loved checking out the ponds.
At sunset we made a campfire and even cooked s’mores. Life can’t get much better than a beautiful Oklahoma sunset!
I’m so thankful I got to make these wonderful memories with my family on a fun getaway. It was the perfect place to escape the city and enjoy one another and just enjoy the moment. We cannot wait to do it again!
