Easy Play Dough Recipe

Looking for a quiet activity that will keep your kids occupied for a good amount of time? Make some play dough! I’m not talking about the store kind, this is home made.  You probably already have all these ingredients and it takes about 5 minutes total to throw this together. In 5 minutes your kids will be having fun and you can go catch up on your DVR 🙂

What You’ll Need:
2 cups of flour
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup of salt
2 tablespoons of cream of tartar
1.5 cups of boiling water
food coloring
glitter (optional)

Mix the flour, salt, cream of tartar, and oil in a large bowl. Boil the water. Add food coloring to the water. Add the boiling water to the bowl of mix. Stir continuously until it’s a sticky combination. You might have to add a bit more flour until it’s just right. Take the dough out and knead it with your hands. It will be hot but it cools fast.  Add glitter (optional)

That’s it! Add some cookie cutters and kitchen tools and you’re kids will be so happy! My daughter loves play dough and will play for hours! She likes to add some plastic animals and/or trinket toys. If you store this play dough in a large container with a lid it will last months. It’s so much better then store bought play dough and way cheaper!

[…] My kids have always LOVED home made play dough. Its super easy to make and my kids love to choose the color. If stored correctly, the play dough will last so much longer then store bought. Give them some cookie cutters and they will be busy for hours! See my recipe for easy play dough HERE. […]
