March 2nd is almost here and that’s when we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Kids will love celebrating by making these green eggs and ham activities.

One of my favorite books from Dr. Seuss is Green Eggs and Ham. It’s one I remember reading growing up and I always loved reading it to my class each year. There are so many fun things you can do with the story!

Green Eggs and Ham Activities

First, you can read or listen to the story. We made use of technology and listened to it since I couldn’t find my copy of the book. Thank you,  YouTube 🙂

A super fun thing to do would be to have green eggs and ham breakfast! You can use green food coloring for the eggs and then have some ham. (We did not do this but it would be fun to do sometime!)

Make a Green Eggs and Ham Snack! This is what we chose to do and we did it together and it turned out great. For the green eggs and ham snack, all you need are waffle pretzels, white chocolate melting wafers, and green m&m’s.

It was really simple to put together and was a great treat after lunch.

Green Eggs and Ham Treat

Ingredients

  • waffle pretzels
  • white chocolate melting wafers
  • green m&m's

Instructions

  1. Line a bake sheet with wax paper and preheat oven to 200 degrees.  Lay out some waffle pretzels (remove broken ones!) and place a white wafer on top of each waffle pretzel. (This is something little hands can help you with!!) Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for only 5 minutes. Watch them close. You don't want them to burn. Quickly you will need to place a green m&m on top of each pretzel. Let cool in the fridge for 5 minutes to set.

Paint Green Eggs and Ham. If you look on Pinterest you will see tons of ideas but I thought this would be easy enough and fun and different. Just like we stamped with marshmallows last week this time we used a wine cork to stamp on eggs. It was great!

It was a super quick activity but gave him something fun to do and he loved using a cork to stamp with!

Don’t forget that on this fun day of celebration you can have an all green snack with my muffin tin snack idea. Looking for more green food ideas? Check out CouponKirin to get the best food deals and discounts.
