Starting a new healthy fitness routine can be challenging. Now that I am officially done having children and entering my late 30’s, I’m trying to make some effort into doing healthier things in my life. It’s going to be more about eating and doing healthier things, but I am not going to deprive myself either. I want to be able to keep up with my energetic kids and enjoy life. Here are some things I am doing to help jump start my new fitness plan:
Drink Water: This is huge. A few years ago I totally gave up drinking diet sodas. I have started drinking them again (but not like I was before) so I’m going to try and get back to nothing but water. I don’t drink coffee (I even hate the smell!) so I was a diet soda girl, but not anymore. To help make my water not so bland I will add some fresh fruit some lemon to help flavor.
Exercise: I am going to make exercise a priority. If I don’t, then other things will come in the way and exercise will slip to the side. I do best doing it in the morning and getting it done. I feel so much better when I’ve exercised and I’m ready to tackle the day. I’d like to do my elliptical for 20 minutes every single day but right now I’m trying for 30 minutes 3X a week. If I can do more, then that’s great too.
Get to Bed Earlier This is tricky. I have become a total NIGHT owl this summer staying up until 1 or 2 every night. Once school starts back for everyone I will have to get back to my normal 10ish bed time. If you can train your body to get to bed early the next day will be so much better for you and everyone else!
No Eating After 8: This is something I used to do but now that I’m staying up wayyyyyy too late we have been eating later too. I need to get back to this. This helps your body digest food and keeps you from snacking all night long.
Cleanse: Before starting a new eating plan a great thing to do to help get your body ready is to do a cleanse just like Weight Not’s 2 day detox.
A cleanse is a great way to detoxify your body and get it ready for any new plan. I have been doing this cleanse and I love how easy it is to do. It’s only 2 days, and everything comes ready for you.

All you have to do is follow the directions and make the drinks for each meal. You can mix with water, milk, or juice. I’m not a milk fan so I chose to mix with juice and it tasted just fine. I was surprised at how I was not hungry. I loved how everything was ready to go and you mix and can go on with your day. I made my morning drink and then hit the pool with my kids. After 2 days my body was less bloated and I had more energy.
Would you ever try a cleanse?
I totally get this! I’m also ready to get back into shape. It’s a struggle but worth it. Good luck!
I don’t know if I would try a cleanse or not, but I like that this one isn’t full of chemicals!
Yes, I liked this one too. I wouldn’t do it all the time but it was pretty easy!
Most of these sound like tips I should apply. Not into trying a cleanse though. I would like to get motivated to start running to prep for a 5K I want to do with my son in September. Visiting from Small Victories link-up.
That’s great! Good luck!
I totally get this! I’m also ready to get back into shape.
