After having kids I see how much money everything costs. From sports to dance lessons, to clothes and shoes. Kids grow so fast so I’ve always loved to buy 2nd hand clothing for my kids. Here are some reasons to should buy 2nd hand kids clothing.
SAVE MONEY: Kids grow so fast! Especially younger kids in infant and baby sizes. They are constantly needing new clothes and some clothes that fit last week might not fit this week. It can all add up to a lot of money. I’ve started shopping from thredUP and there were so many options for cheap clothes that were very affordable.
*LOTS TO CHOOSE FROM: Shopping from a consignment or 2nd hand give me a large option of choices. I can always find name brand too for so much cheaper. I love the seasonal sales of kids consignment because I can stock up on things for the next year.
*RECYCLING: Buying 2nd hand is great for the environment! You’re re-using and that’s a way to not produce as much waste.
*YOU WON’T PANIC IF KIDS SPILL: Since you’ve bought something 2nd hand if your child makes a huge mess or gets a bad stain that won’t get out it’s not a big deal! This is big for me. It seems like my kids are always making messes and spill on white clothes. When it’s 2nd hand clothing it’s less painful on your wallet when something gets a hole or stain.
*YOU CAN ACTUALLY MAKE MONEY: A great way for Moms to make a little money is to SELL your kids clothes that are gently used. thredUP is a great way to do this! All you have to do is send them your clothes and they do all the rest!
Have you ever used thredUP before? I just used thredUP last month and couldn’t believe the amazing deals and a great selection of clothes. It was so nice to shop by size to get exactly what I wanted. Here’s a great deal for first-time users: Use the code GAP50 to get a discount up to 50$!!!
Thanks to thredUP for sponsoring this post and giving me a chance to update my little guy’s wardrobe! All opinions are mine.
I love your point about not worrying as much about the mess. My toddler is constantly staining her clothing. I’ll have to check out ThredUp.
Especially with boys! They get clothes ruined so fast!!
My kids outgrow their clothes in a matter of months. Buying 2nd hand clothing is definitely the way to go. Great article!
