So I’m one of those Moms who runs to the store for a few things several times a week. Like FIVE times a week. We are always at the grocery store because I’m not a meal planner, and because I don’t keep a very close inventory of what we have left or need. Like today when I realized we’re out of band-aids. And eggs. And plastic wrap. And we could use some more bananas. I was just at the store yesterday, but what the heck — lets run to our home away from home…Kroger! I could change this habit, but frankly I love my Kroger, and my kids love to shop!
My 17 month old is not an easy shopping buddy now that he’s on the move. So the best thing I can do is grab a snack that will occupy him for a bit. (And often we borrow a toy from the toy aisle as well.) Sure, I could pack a snack in advance (sometimes I do) but it’s way more fun to hit the baby care aisle for something special. Recently we discovered Gerber Lil’ Beanies(TM), and they are a perfect shopping snack! They’re nutritious, have less than 1 gr of sugar, and they’re made with navy beans (for protein!). He feels proud that he can hold the container and feed himself, and I don’t have to fret about how many he consumes, because they’re so light. Honestly, snacks like Gerber Lil’ Beanies are a godsend to a Mom shopping with three kids. Inexpensive, self-feeding (yes, please), and I can’t stress enough how happy I am that they’re baked, and not full of sugar (as almost all snacks tend to be). #GerberWinWin
Check out these product highlights: Ingredients are all non-GMO, and there are no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. They include 2g of protein (9% Daily Value per serving), 1g of fiber per serving, and 10% Daily Value of Vitamin E per serving! The product has launched with 2 yummy flavors, Original and White Cheddar & Broccoli (our favorite)
My neighborhood grocery store is Kroger, and I love, love, love it. There are other grocery store chains that I find too expensive, or too busy, but my Kroger down the street is just right. The employees are super sweet (they all know my kids because we’re there like 20 times a month!). The prices are great, and I earn fuel points while I shop (which usually yield at least a 30 cent savings per gallon every time I fill up!).
My older kids will usually make a beeline for the bakery, where they often find cookie samples. Now that we’ve discovered Gerber Lil’ Beanies, however, they want to share a snack with their little bro. They’re made for toddlers, but my girls think they taste like cheese puffs and can’t get enough!
Honestly, anything that makes a Mom’s life easier while grocery shopping with three kids is AWESOME. Understandably kids get antsy and bored while shopping, but if I bring books and provide a snack, they’re good to go. And I can think straight long enough to complete my shopping!
Many thanks to Gerber for inspiring today’s post, and making it easy to provide toddlers with healthy, self-feeding snacks on the go! #GerberWinWin
I’m usually a good grocery planner, but I think I’ve been to the store every day this week! I have to hit Target today and make my THIRD trip to Cistco tomorrow (to pick up a birthday cake). It never ends! I’m with you on special snacks in the store. It keeps my kids happy and keeps me sane.
Great idea! I usually bring a full sippy of milk, sometimes even chocolate milk, and snacks. Though we’ve had a few occasions where we had to tear into the food or squeeze pouches while shopping and then pay for an empty container at checkout haha.
Whatever works!! That’s my philosophy anyway 🙂
I, too, am ALWAYS grocery shopping. I’m never organized enough for a list, and when I do write one, I forget it anyway haha! Snacks are a must have for us as well, because my son grows bored very quickly! Thanks for sharing <3
Distraction is key with the kids! These look great – will check them out. Love that they’re non-GMO!
We even like the taste of them 🙂 It’s a great easy snack for hungry kids!
