Summer is here and we are having so much fun with family and friends. We’ve been to the library, playing at parks, and doing lots of swimming. Even though summer time is a time to be more relaxed and enjoy the long summer nights, we’ve still been pretty busy too. Staying busy is fun but it means lots of car time for my 3 year old as we shuttle his older sister back and forth to soccer, camps, and other activities. One thing that has made my life much easier is having a toddler ready bag on hand for my little guy.
An on the go bag is easy to carry and easily filled with goodies to keep the littles occupied. Lots of summer essentials are in our summer-ready bags including books, small toys, and snacks. Snacks are a must for my kids! I try to keep nutritious snacks on hand so that they aren’t filling up on sugary sweets. This is why I’m thankful for Mott’s products. Mott’s Apple Juice and Mott’s Applesauce from Walmart are some of my kid’s favorites! I feel good about them snacking on these too since they are healthier choices.
To make your on the go bag, look around your house for a few things your kids would like. Small toys, books, crayons, and little trinket toys work great. I always like to have some wipes on hand too for any messes and if your little one is still in diapers or pull ups pack of those as well. You might need a change of clothes too.
I love to pack a little game or fun activity like this easy DIY velcro shape set. It was so easy to make and perfect for toddlers!
- To make DIY velcro shapes you will need a set of wooden craft sticks, velcro stickers, and a bag to keep them in. A pencil bag zipper pouch works great.
- Lay out a few sticks and place velcro stickers on the ends (both ends and both kinds of the velcro so they will stick together). If you want some certain shapes like triangles, squares then make them first to make sure the velcro matches.
- Keep sticking velcro on as many sticks as you have or want to use until your toddler can make a few different things.
- Keep all sticks in a zipper pouch to add to your toddler on the go bag!
Your kids will love these. They can be creative and it will give them something to in the car or while you’re waiting for older siblings to finish up at camp or practices!
Finally, pack in your snacks and juice for your kids. My kids love Mott’s Applesauce. They are so easy to take on the go and perfect for our summer ready bag. Mott’s snacks are fun for kids of all ages, and I like that they are getting something nutritious and not filled with extra sugar. My kids love the Mott’s Applesauce Pouches. They are perfect for being on the go and so easy to use! Be sure and look for the ones that “The Secret Life of Pets” characters on them.

It was so easy to go on line and register.
I like to make my summer ready bag in a clear bag, like a gallon sized bag. This makes it easy to see and find things. At the end of the day I can see what needs to be replenished. I also like that my toddler on the go bag can fit inside my beach bag or any diaper bag. Now we’re all set to hit up our local splash parks and neighborhood pools!
What are your summer essentials for kids?
We
I’ve the Mott’s applesauce pouches, too! They are so convenient and dont get smoothed in my bag like bananas.
Those velcro sticks are a genius idea!!! We will steal that idea for our long plane rides with a toddler next month!!
I love the idea of velcro shapes! How cool and perfect for keeping the kids busy!
I’ll bet this is a huge sanity-saver! It’s pretty hard to keep from getting bored easily when you’re that young and having activities and snacks on hand helps a lot, I’m sure!
Wow that’s a great deal on the movie tickets! My daughter loves applesauce too, it’s definitely a staple around here!
