This post is a sponsored post. My family was hosted a stay in Sulphur, Oklahoma. All opinions are mine.
Recently my family had a chance to visit Sulphur, Oklahoma. We loved getting away from the hustle and bustle of the Dallas area and seeing some of the country life and more laid back lifestyle too. Sulphur and the surrounding area has so many fun and exciting things to do for the whole family. If you have a chance to visit Sulphur, Oklahoma you should! Let me tell you more about it.
Where to Stay in Sulphur
Our drive from Dallas to Sulphur was such a pretty one. Driving through the Arbuckle Mountains was a really pretty sight. It was so nice to get out of the big city and see some beautiful land and trees. From North Dallas, we arrived at our destination in just 2 hours. It was the perfect road trip for kids. We were there in one movie which was nice for them.
We stayed at the Chickasaw Retreat & Conference Center and it was just perfect for our family of 4! Let me tell you more about it. We are still talking about those amazing views!
The retreat & conference center is such a beautiful and picturesque place tucked in the Arbuckle Mountains on top of a hill. It was so peaceful and one with nature. It’s a retreat and conference center so they are used to holding meetings for large crowds to youth and even weddings. They have some incredible amenities to offer as well including:
- indoor pool
- ropes course
- sauna/steam room
- fitness center
- spa
- and an awesome pond with kayaks/paddle boats with and area to fish and even frisbee golf!
We really enjoyed the pond area as we found this to be so pretty and different. Our kids love to fish and be outside since we don’t get to fish very often. My husband really enjoyed a round of frisbee golf too! It was so fun to be outside and explore the beautiful area with all the trees.
The rooms in at the Chickasaw Retreat are very nice, clean, and spacious. They also have a restaurant on site that just opened in June that is open on weekends. Be sure to check out Fat Bully’s Sunset Ridge.
Things to Do in Sulphur
Chickasaw National Recreation Area
There are so many things to do when you visit Sulphur, Oklahoma! We stayed busy our entire time. Our favorite thing is doing things outdoors as a family and Sulphur is the place be outside exploring. I’ve never seen so many water holes and camping sites. Some of the best water holes are located in the Chickasaw National Rec Area. It has over 30 miles of land to explore, hike and camp. We checked out some of the area and the kids enjoyed a dip in the COLD Little Niagra Falls. It’s a really neat place to visit stay for awhile.
Chickasaw Cultural Center
Learning about the Chickasaw culture and heritage is so interesting. The cultural center is such a beautiful memorial and museum where you can see and experience first hand what life was like. From real artifacts to videos, the center even has daily performances you can watch that are so amazing to see! The entire facility and grounds area is just beautiful. I really enjoyed the visit.
Turner Falls
Just a little outside of Sulphur is home to Turner Falls, which is a must-do when in the area. It’s home to Oklahoma’s largest waterfall! We had a great time here enjoying the waterfalls and springs swimming and playing. The kids went down the slide and off the diving board over and over. It’s such a neat place and like nothing you’ve ever seen! Don’t forget that kids 12 and under are required to wear lifejackets. Also, I suggest everyone swimming in water shoes. We were so happy we all had them.
777 Zip
This by far a highlight! We all had a chance to zipline and it was amazing. I have to admit when we pulled up and saw it we were all a little nervous but I’m glad we did it. The views were amazing and it was such a thrill!
