There’s nothing worse than having sick kids. It’s the one thing about parenting that’s inevitable at some point. We have germs everywhere and when you have young children, they get SICK! You can try your best to wash their little hands give them vitamins but sooner or later your little one will end up sick and it’s no fun for anyone.
Fevers can be very scary, especially when they come in the middle of the night. This just happened to my 2 year old last weekend. He went to bed as normal but around midnight he woke up screaming and had a very high fever. It was completely out of the blue and I felt so bad for him. Thankfully there’s Children’s Advil to help ease my fears and keep temps down in little ones. It will keep your little ones fever free longer and with less medicine than Tylenol. That’s a huge relief for me!
I buy Β Children’s Advil at my neighborhood Walgreens. It works quickly and is very easy to administer. It comes is great flavors that makes it easy to swallow like grape, bubble gum, berry, dye free white grape, and fruit. Β It also comes in easy grape chewable and an easy to swallow tablet. Β The flavors make it more enjoyable for the kids and you don’t have to worry about them spitting it out. I love that they offer a sugar free/dye free version for kids and that it keeps them fever free for 8 hours!
When my kids are sick I try and do something extra special because I know they are feeling so rotten. My kids love playing with play dough. I always have the ingredients on hand to make it at home. It takes just a few minutes to make and keeps my kids happy and having fun.
I also build a special bed on the couch or on the floor full of fluffy blankets and lots of furry friends. We’ll watch TV together and sip on some juice. Other fun activities would be water painting, legos, and maybe a special movie to watch. You will do whatever makes your sickies feel better. In no time they will be good as new π
This was last week when my little guy was sick. We had a special picnic on the floor and then he crashed π
Parent Tip: One thing I always do when one of my kids is sick is to set up an area/counter space for all their meds and anything I will need to help them. I keep a notepad and I write down the time/day/dosage of any meds given. This helps Dad or other caregivers too see exactly when meds were given and when they can be given again. This also helps if they get sick in the middle of the night and later on you can’t remember what time you gave them the medicine! This is my station all set up and ready π
Having sick kids makes your heart hurt as a parent. You just want them to feel better and be back to normal fast. It’s so hard to see your child in pain but thankfully Children’s Advil can help your child feel better in no time!
We want to hear from you Moms! What is your advice or special things you do when your kids are sick? Share with us in the comments!

That notepad to log dosage and fevers is a great reminder. It seems simple but when you’re in the middle of it you don’t think about tracking until you’re wondering later how long ago did you give a dose.
Kelly @ Texas Type A Mom says
I, too, set up a station with meds, thermometer, and a temp schedule. It’s vital to keep track of this kind of thing because it can get so confusing with round the clock dosing. Add in another sick kid and your head will really spin! #client

Oh my goodness, those pictures of your son when he wasn’t feeling well are soooooo precious! As you said, it’s no fun when they’re sick, but they’re always a little extra cuddly during that time and I love that part! Great tips here. I always always buy dye-free medicine when possible. Thankfully my kids don’t need to see red color to believe it will taste like cherry.

A really good post! Will be sharing this for sure among my mom friends. We are in Ireland so the brands differ but the practicality is worldwide useful x

My little daughter is sick right now. I can only tell you how frightening it is to see them suffer. It was a great reminder to keep a track of the temp. Thanks for that

Love this, I have always used Advil over Tylenol so my son could take less medication. I have gotten an earful from other mothers so it is nice to see I am not the only one. Glad your son is feeling better.

I find fevers so scary. My daughter sometimes has febrile seizures if I don’t get the fever under control. When she spikes a fever we start alternating children’s Motrin and children’s Tylenol. One dose every 4 hours.
If that doesn’t keep the fever down then we have used warm washcloths, as well as lukewarm baths.
I hate it when little ones are sick!

I’m so thankful that my almost one year old has never been sick, but I will keep this in mind for when she DOES get a cold!

We keep a log of medicines / times given on our counter too. It really helps us keep everything straight. I love the play dough idea. I need to download a recipe!

so hard to have a sick child. I try to give lots of extra cuddles.

That’s the worst feeling when you’re child is sick and all you want to do is take away their pain but you’re limited in what you can do. My mom used to put a damp/cold dish rag over my forehead when I was little, and it helped me feel better. I do the same thing for my daughter.

My little one is almost 4 months old and we have been lucky so far and she hasn’t been sick yet (knock on wood). I know it will come eventually and these are some great tips. I like the idea of the notepad to track dosages and temps. Hope your little one feels better!

YES! I do all of these things when little man is sick. Cuddle cuddle cuddle. It’s my secret favorite part about the yucky cold and flu season.

It’s so hard to tell when my little one is sick, he doesn’t lose his energy, he just gets cranky. I miss out on the sick cuddles because he still goes full speed. But I also use children’s advil for his fevers.
Pam / Hey, Miss Adventures! says
I am quite lucky that my daughter isn’t so sickly but when she does have fever, my parents freak out (we live with them). Argh. I really do try to keep away from medicine if it’s just a little spike but hey, let’s admit it, having your baby sleep soundly all throughout the night is just what everyone would want. It gets you some sleep, too.

Thank you for this post!! I am fortunate enough that my daughter, 2.5 years old haven’t been sick yet. So, this post will help me a lot with ideas of what to do. I love the notepad and setting up a medicine station!!!

Great tips! We also try to sit out in the sun and read, blow bubbles, etc if it is warm. I’m a big believe in Vit D.

Great post…we’ve been there. My son actually had to febrile seizures when he was a baby due to high fevers so it can definitely be a scary thing.
