This is the time of year that all the sicknesses begin. From fevers to sore muscles, you want to be prepared for your kids. This DIY rice heating pad is the perfect thing for this winter! It can help with sore muscles or even warm up cold feet. Walgreens is my go-to to stock up on all children’s medicine items like Children’s Advil® and Infants’ Advil®.
I can honestly say one of the most difficult parts of parenting is when your children get sick. You feel so helpless and can have total anxiety on when to go to the doctor and what medicines are appropriate for them. Last week my daughter was starting to not act right. She was giving me all the signs of not feeling well. She was pretty lethargic, didn’t want dessert, and was being pretty quiet. She was complaining of a headache and when I felt her head she felt pretty hot.
I was so thankful that just last week I went to my local Walgreens and stocked up on some children sickness essentials. I picked up some Children’s Advil® and Infants’ Advil® for my youngest. Children’s Advil® provides up to 8 hours of fever/pain relief with just 1 dose. It’s also more effective. It gives longer lasting fever relief with 40% Less Liquid Medicine than Children’s Tylenol* *Based on labeled dosing over a 24-hour period. See product label for complete dosing information. Use as directed.
Infants’ Advil® is a great choice for your younger children. It delivers more effective, longer lasting fever relief and contains 50% Less Liquid per dose than Infants’ Tylenol®* *Based on labeled dosing. See product label for complete dosing information. Infants’ Advil® is a great option during teething. It quickly soothes teething pain and fever. Use as directed.
My daughter had a terrible headache. I knew it must be bad since she hardly ever complains! She was also saying her neck and shoulders were sore. I wanted to make her something that would help so I had an idea to make a DIY rice heating pad to try and soothe her aches and pains. A rice heating pad is easy to make and works great in just a few minutes.
All you need is a tall sock, rice, a funnel (I used a toilet paper roll) and a measuring cup. Put the toilet roll or funnel inside the sock with some room at the top. Carefully pour in rice to fill the sock. Essential oils can be put in at this time but it’s optional. Once the sock is pretty full tie that end off. You can use string to tie the ends off too. I tied the sock at the end so no rice would come out. When you want to use the heating pad, just place the rice sock in the microwave and heat for 30 second increments until you get it to it’s desired temperature. For my daughter (age 9) I heated it for about 90 seconds stopping every 30 seconds to check.
The best advice I can say is to always be prepared! It’s best to plan ahead for the if and when your kids sick you will be ready! Stop by your local Walgreens and stock up on Infants’ Advil® and Children’s Advil®.
