When I got married and started having kids I never thought that meal time would be one of the most stressful and annoying times for me. The planning, prepping and cleaning up after sometimes really get to me! I finally discovered a few tips or hacks that have worked well for me and I wanted to share them with you. Here are 5 mealtime hacks for busy moms that have really helped me.
Have a Favorite Meal on Hand Always
I’ve learned that it’s best to keep something easy and a crowd pleaser on hand (in the pantry or fridge) that is ready to go at all times. On busy nights or days when I really don’t have much time I can whip up a favorite meal on short notice and everyone will still be happy. One of our favorites is breakfast for dinner. Pancakes easy and everyone loves them. You can also make them ahead of time and freeze them to save you even more time.
Be Prepared for Spills/Clean Up
It seems like messes/kids/meals just go together. Well, they do in my house. I can’t freak out every time there is a spill or a mess because I would be stressed out all the time. Now I just stay prepared. The best thing to do is have supplies on hand for those sticky substances like syrup or ketchup and you will be so much happier. I love the Wet Ones® Antibacterial Hand Wipes. They are easy on skin even for the littlest hands. You can wipe up germs and sticky hands in no time. Get more info visit their website.
Only Buy What You Need
I know some Moms are so good about meal prepping and stockpiling when things are on sale but that is not me. That causes me more stress so I only buy what we need. This saves me sanity and really it still brings us plenty of leftovers. I love smaller packaged items. With my family of 4, we have plenty of food on a daily basis. There is no reason for me to cook more for just us.
Keep Side Items Easy
To take some of the stress away I don’t go crazy with fixing these amazing sides with our meals. Maybe later on in my Mommyhood of life, I will have more time to get creative but for now, I don’t. My kids love both fruit, rice or a salad. I love these rice pouches that take 90 seconds. I can literally throw that in the microwave as I’m calling everyone to come eat and there’s my yummy side item.
Salads are easy and dressing them up is fun. This The Simply Beyond® Spray Herbs & Organic Fruit Vinegar sprays combine herb essential oil and organic herbs with just a little Non-GMO organic canola oil. They make the best salad dressings!
It’s also great on fresh fruit! For a full range of their products check out the Simply Beyond website and use code babblebox10 to receive 10% off on all orders through 11/30/2017.
Pack Lunches/Leftovers that Night
When I worked out of the home, I used to have 4 lunches to make for the next day. We always bring our lunches to save money but also it’s usually better and faster (especially for teachers!). I found that I saved so much time by packing lunches the night before as I am cleaning up for dinner. The kitchen is already a wreck anyways so now is the best time. I love reusable plastic dishes for leftover and packing for lunches. I can use them several times and the wash well.
These are my best tips to make life easier for busy Moms. I’m all about saving time and my sanity. What are your mealtime hacks you love?
