As a mother, there is never enough time to do everything that needs to be done. Getting to take care of your family is a full-time commitment. Especially if you have toddlers running around your house. How will you get fit and healthy amidst all these chores and responsibilities that have taken over your life? How will you manage to keep fit and healthy when there is hardly enough time to go to the gym for a workout? If you are facing a similar situation then it is time you considered the following workouts that will get you back to your desired body shape and fitness. The best part is they can be squeezed into your busy schedule. Check out these 5-minute workouts for busy moms.
- Buy a yoga ball
You will find this helpful if you want to strengthen your core. Everybody needs a decent rest in between chores. Take a sit on your yoga ball instead. I know the bed might seem more welcoming but the yoga ball will ensure you retain your balance as it strengthens you physically.
- Squats
The importance of squats in your exercise routine can be very helpful. You do not need any equipment to achieve this. You can do squats anytime of the day. You can do your squats together with your laundry. By lifting your basket of wet clothes and doing squats while carrying them. There is never a wasted exercise and this will count for sure.
- Wall Sitting
Your laundry is finally dry and it is time to fold them. You can turn this into an exercise. Place your back against the wall and fold your legs at a right angle sitting position. Maintain this position as you fold your clothes on your lap. Take short rests in between and repeat the process. A little creativity will make exercising at home fun.
- Music
This is a sure way of getting your groove back. A little dance with your kids will make you burn calories without laboring. It is a fun way of bonding with your kids too. Show them who is the master when it comes to the beats.
- Jumping with your kids
There are very many jumping exercises you will find fun to do with your kids. Take advantage of your kids’ playtime and introduce them to skipping ropes. You can also include a few star jumps. For star jumps, stand upright and rest your hands on your sides. Squat a little then jump up throwing both your legs and arms wide apart. Repeat this process for 30 seconds. Rest then do more star jumps.
- Doing Lunges
Mothers can barely finish a day without having to pick up things littered on the floor by their children. Doing lunges as you pick the toys up is a decent way toning your legs. However, you should do lunges correctly or else you might risk a straining your knee. Consider these steps
- Stand at an upright position
- Step forward with one leg
- Lower your hips and make sure both knees bend at a right angle (90 degrees)
- Slowly back up to a standing position. Repeat this process over again placing the other foot forward.
- Calf lifts
Women are known for multi-tasking. They can prepare dinner and do some calf lifts as well. It is as simple as standing on your toes for a few seconds or up to a minute if you can. Then come down slowly back to your original standing position. Repeat this process over again.
- Stretching on the floor
I strongly recommend doing planks. This simple exercise will strengthen your body and build your back making you have a strong core. It further builds your shoulders.
- Lie flat on your stomach and raise yourself up into a push-up position
- Bend your forearms till they reach the ground.
- Maintain that position for a minute or two.
- Sitting leg lifts
This is the easiest to perform. You can even do it while eating. Sit comfortably ensuring your back is rested. Place one leg on the ground firmly (90 degrees) and lift the other to be parallel with the floor. Up and down as many times as you can. Now repeat the same process for the other leg. Keeping fit is not as tasking as most moms assume. These simple tricks work effectively and you will still be able to enjoy quality time with your kids.
