One evening my husband pulled out a box of rice crispy cereal and asked why I had this when no one was eating it. I said a few weeks ago I had wanted to make some treats with the kids but I never got around to it. He suggested I make his favorite treats, PB rice crispy treats! So, I did. 🙂
PB Rice Crispy Treats:
3/4 cup corn syrup
3/4 cup of sugar
3/4 cup of pb (creamy)
4.5 cups of rice crispy cereal
8 oz of chocolate chips
Line a baking sheet with wax paper. In a sauce pan, heat corn syrup and sugar on medium heat until it boils. Remove from heat and stir in the peanut butter until smooth. Add the cereal and stir until well coated. Press the mixture into the baking sheet. Set aside. In a microwavable bowl, heat choc chips in 30 second intervals stirring often until it’s smooth and melted. Spread chocolate on top of cereal mixture. Cool in fridge until chocolate is firm. Cut into pieces and store in air tight container (room temp).
When I make these next time, I won’t add as much sugar/syrup as the recipe calls for. It was too sweet, in my opinion. It’s definitely a fun treat everyone will enjoy!
