Halloween is finally here! We have several fun Halloween traditions we do every year that make the holiday fun to celebrate. One of them is our neighborhood trunk or treat!
Four in 10 adults say they enjoy the holiday even more now than when they were a child and that is for sure me. I have the best memories from Halloween and I have always loved this holiday!
Every year we have this with our neighborhood friends. The kids dress up, we decorate our trunks, and they go trunk to trunk getting candy and treats. It’s such a fun gathering and the kids stay safe in the enclosed area. The parents get to talk and have fun too. It’s really fun for everyone. It’s such a fun Halloween tradition. It’s really one of my favorites. We put this on our fall calendar as soon as school starts!
One thing I try and do for Halloween and trunk or treat is give out non-candy treats. It’s really easy to do and the kids love them! Here are some fun examples.
There are so many fun trinkets and fun toys that kids go nuts over that are great for kids that can’t have candy or might be allergic. I always try and think about kids getting sugar. Sugar is going to happen on this holiday and it’s fine but it’s fun to think about other ideas for kids too.

This just shows that kids love candy! My kids, well they got a lot of candy too! But I’m not worried because we have Crest on our side!
With all of this candy, we have to make sure we are brushing well and taking care of our teeth. 70% parents enforce stricter teeth brushing/routines on Halloween for their children.
Right now there’s major savings on Crest toothpaste at Walmart! Now you can grab your candy and toothpaste all in one place for a low price.
One of my best tips after Halloween and easiest ways to limit the candy is to put some in a baggie. It’s plenty of candy for them. Basically my kids get to choose their favorites and put them in a bag and the rest we donate. It’s super easy and they can’t complain because they get to do the choosing. Sometimes I keep some extra in the freezer for various treats and projects like this yummy chocolate candy bark using the leftover Halloween candy.
Look for the $1 off coupon in your 10/28 local newspaper! Happy Halloween!
