In case you hadn’t noticed…your Daily Momtivity authors are in love with FALL! And it would seem that the Pinterest community, local coffee shops and our readers are equally as excited for the changing of the seasons.
Although my hometown isn’t enjoying fall temperatures quite yet, I did recently bake pumpkin muffins and pull out our copy of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. My girls love both the movie, and the book (as do I!).
Interested to know what other adorable fall-themed books and movies are out there? Here’s a list I’ve compiled for you. Hit up your local Half-Price Books or Amazon.com and get your kids excited about fall!
While most of us are familiar with the previously mentioned Charlie Brown trick-or-treat story, have you seen Charlie Brown Thanksgiving? Peppermint Patty talks Charlie Brown into hosting Thanksgiving dinner for all of their friends. There’s a bonus movie on the same DVD in which the Peanuts gang depict the first Thanksgiving. It’s quite educational, actually!
I love The Berenstain Bears series of books and movies. They’re sweet and wholesome, and always include a character lesson of some sort. Although they’re a little outdated compared to new shows, my girls like them. I found this “Prize Pumpkin” book at the library last week, and we like it. There’s a movie of the same story as well (which I don’t own, but I discovered someone uploaded it to YouTube, Part 1 and Part 2 – so look for it.)
Apparently there is another pumpkin-themed Berenstain Bears story out there, as well. I haven’t seen it, yet, but I’m sure it’s cute (as all BB stories are!).
Of course, there’s a Clifford book for fall! Summer is over, and Clifford the small red puppy, is curious about the changes that are happening all around him. There is also a Clifford’s First Halloween book.
Girls love Fancy Nancy, and apparently Fancy Nancy loves Fall! Here’s a short synopsis of the book, according to Amazon.com: Fancy Nancy loves fall—the fashion, the weather, and especially the colors of the leaves! As Fancy Nancy helps Mom and Dad rake the leaves outside in Fancy Nancy and the Fall Foliage, she gets a stupendous idea to do something unique with the most beautiful leaves she finds.
Join Little Critter and his family on their exciting road trip to the Fall Festival! They go apple picking and on a hayride, and Little Critter discovers how fun the harvest season can be.
Fall Pumpkins: Orange and Plump teaches kids how pumpkins grow, and all of the fun things that can be done with them. There are other books in this learning series, such as Fall Weather and Fall Leaves.
There’s a brand new movie in the Guess How Much I Love You series of books and videos. It’s about Autumn! You can preorder it through Amazon, but I actually found it on Target’s website today as well.
Lastly, I discovered this fantastic list of 31 children’s books about fall on thebookdiariesblog.com. It includes a good age range of books, and many lesser-known titles, so you are sure to find something new here for your kids!
Please share your fall favorites for kids here, or on our Facebook/Twitter pages. Enjoy reading with your kids this fall!
