Raising Kids to be Happy and Healthy

This post was sponsored by Boys & Girls Clubs of America as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

As parents, it’s our job to do everything we can to teach them to make good choices and lead a healthy lifestyle. That’s not always an easy task. It takes constant work and lots of patience. Here are some things I am doing to raise happy and healthy kids.

Raising Kids to be Happy and Healthy #GreatFutures #IC #ad

Be Active

I’m so thankful that we live in Texas where it’s rarely too cold to go outside. We do have our really cold days but we can bundle up and get some fresh air even if it’s for 20 minutes. What kid doesn’t love playing at the park? We have lots of parks in our area and it’s fun to look for new ones to visit too. We can easily take some yummy snacks or a picnic lunch and make a day out of it. It makes me feel better too getting fresh air and spending time with my kids. This makes us all happy and keeps us moving.

Make Healthy Eating Choices

It’s never too late to start making better food choices.  I love to take my kids to the store to show them all the great fruits and veggies we can have. Even though taking kids to the store can be a pain sometimes it really can be a good learning too, especially the younger kids.

I love when my kids help out in the kitchen! Not only does this help me but I use this time to teach about healthier eating and lots of cooking ideas.

Spend Time Together

I try to make an effort to spend some quality time with my kids and really talk to them. In our busy world it can be hard to do this but it’s so important. Even if it’s simply playing a game together or when we are in the car. Carve out a few minutes to talk about your day or things that are going on.

All of these are important in the upbringing of children to help raise happy and healthy kids.  Unfortunately, many children are not learning these skills for a healthier and happier life. Thank goodness for an awesome program like Triple Play.

Triple Play is a health and wellness program offered in the Boys & Girls Clubs. It’s the  BGCA’s leading comprehensive health and wellness program that serves the children, giving them the tools and awareness necessary to put them on the path to a great future. National support from the Amerigroup Foundation and Coca-Cola make it possible for Boys & Girls Clubs around the country to operate Triple Play. I love that they are working on the mind, body, and soul.

“I FEEL BETTER WHEN” – is the key mantra for Boys & Girls Clubs of America at the start of this New Year. I love this motto and it’s perfect for this time of year when we are trying to make better lifestyle choices. Consider making your own family’s “I Feel Better When” submission!

Our family is make an effort to have some sort of daily activity together. Being outside is best so we’re going to bundle up on cold days to get outside and get fresh air. We’re also trying to drink more water and less juice in our house. We also take make the most of our family meal times when we can. I’m hoping doing all of these things will lead to happier and healthier children!
