This ghost eraser stamp art is the perfect Halloween craft for kids and everything came from the $1 store! You might even have the supplies at home making it totally free. It’s a great preschool art or project to do on a rainy day!

When I taught preschool we were always looking for fun art activities that were doable for our kids! This ghost eraser stamp art would have been such a hit. The kids always loved stamping and making things colorful. Halloween was such a fun ‘holiday’ to celebrate with young kids too so I would have loved this. We did do similar art like this where the kids painted over a stencil and you lift it up to see a fun colorful design.

For this project, I wanted to do something simple and cheap too. You can go much cheaper than the dollar store! Have you been to your local Dollar Tree lately? Around this time they have the cutest supplies for little art ideas like this.  They had adorable foam sets and painting ideas. I got the paint that actually goes to ornament you can paint that I let my youngest paint later on. So this was like a 2 for 1 deal! They also have this great canvas now for  $1! It’s the perfect size for this ghost eraser stamp art or even a handprint you might paint for something else!

Supplies for Ghost Eraser Stamp Art

Small Canvas
Paint
Eraser from a new pencil (or Q-Tip would work also!)
Pattern for a Ghost or a Bat or Pumpkin
Tape to hold the pattern down
Baby Wipe or Wet Towel to Clean the Eraser

  1. Trace a pattern of your ghost and tape it down on the canvas. You want to make sure it is taped down well. I found a wooden ghost (also at the $1 store!) that was the perfect size so that is what I used.  You could hand-draw something or find one online.
  2. Dip the eraser end of the pencil into the paint and start by going around the outside of the pattern. Tip: I would tell the kids to use one color at a time for this. You want to make sure you go all the way around the pattern for it to really show up otherwise it won’t!
  3. Continue stamping several colors around the entire canvas. Make sure it dries completely.
  4. Once it has dried, remove the pattern to see the ghost underneath!
